About Us
| Shipton-Under-Wychwood Cricket Club is situated in Oxfordshire in the Cotswold's. We run 3 teams on a Saturday and also run a friendly side on a Sunday. Our club night is on a Tuesday at the club where there is nets, coaching, fielding practice and the bar is usually open! | |
| Shipton compete in the Oxford Times Cherwell League. The 1st XI are in Division 1, and the 2nd XI in Division 5 with the 3rd XI in Division 9. We also compete in the nPower Village Cup, and midweek knockout competitions. | |
 | The First XI won the National Village Knockout at Lords in both 2002 & 2003 (left is Captain Paul Hemming with the trophy in 2003) and also won the Cherwell League Division 1 Championship in 2004. The Second XI won the Division 5 title in 2007, whilst the Over-40s side retained their Oxfordshire title for the second time in 2009. |
| We also hold annual cricket events including an Inter-club Twenty20 Day, Club Tour to Sheffield and weekly events such as Quiz and Curry nights. Our annual Cricket Dinner and Awards Night is usually held in November. | |
| There is a fantastic youth setup at Shipton, co-ordinated by Vice-President Charlie Barrett, and we have a Family Social Night every Friday during the summer where the kids (ages 10-16) get some coaching and kwik-cricket games whilst the parents can enjoy the barbeque and bar. | |
| We also host Youth Coaching nights Monday (U13's), Wednesday (U15's) and Thursday (U17's). We also hold various coaching weeks through the summer, and are heavily involved in providing coaching to the local schools during the summer, as part of the Chance To Shine scheme. We have both boys and girls teams and have had a number of these young players break into the County and District setups. See the Youth Section for more details. | |
