Good Weather For Ducks!Tonights postponed game vs Downs has been postponed once again. Watch this space for the new date. In other Duck news in Batting Order, Dickon Morris, Shaun Miller and Steven Carvey are leading the race for the 2008 Duck Cup with 2 Ducks each.
Meeting MovedDue to the Oxfordshire Cup game being moved to this Tuesday at Shipton (you're support will be most welcome!) the Committee Meeting has been moved to Tuesday 10th June.
Oxon Cup Game PostponedThe Oxfordshire Cup game against Oxford Downs tomorrow (Thursday 29th May) has been cancelled due to the inclement weather. Most likely to be rearranged for Tuesday at Shipton.
Sunday Game CANCELLEDToday's game against Ford Sports is cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch (puddles on the outfield again Prior? Disgraceful!)
PLAYERS REQUIRED!We need more players for Sunday and Monday please. Ford Sports are bringing a strong side, so preferably 1st and 2nd XI players required in the first instance. See Team Selections Here.
3rds Game CancelledBanbury XX 3rd XI have pulled out of the league (issues with their ground) so our fixture against them this week is cancelled, as is the return fixture later in the season.
NETS UNAVAILABLEOur club nets are unavailable between 3:00pm and 5:00pm every TUESDAY and FRIDAY as they are being hired out to Kingham Hill School. Please do not start a net session that will run into these time zones. Thank you.
SAHAN HAS ARRIVED!Our Sri Lankan player-coach touched down in Heathrow yesterday and will be playing in Away game at Bourton Vale today. Please make every effort to make him feel as welcome as possible!

Peppard WithdrawPeppard have withdrawn from the NVKO so the only game on Sunday is the Home game against Churchill. We will be facing either Aston Rowant or Oxford Downs AWAY in the 3rd Round on Sunday 18th May.

New Season Ahoy!With a new season approaching I thought I'd better get back into gear with this website malarky! So, here's a couple of bits of news that may interest you:

Pre-Season Nets start on Sunday March 2nd at Wood Green School from 7.30 until 9.00.

Shipton Tour Sheffield Monday 28th July to Thursday 31st July. First come first serve, so get your name down with either Christian Brain, Charlie Brain or Steve Carvey.

Player Registration We now need to re-register EVERY player with the league. You should have received a form from Mark Meredith; please return this ASAP. If you have not received a form (I think they're yellow) please contact Mark ASAP (see the Officers section).

CHAMPIONS!!!CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2ND XI FOR THEIR TENSE DRAW AT BANBURY XX TO SEE THEM WIN DIVISION FIVE BY ONE POINT!!!!

Well done to Skipper Craig Lambert and his Vice Steven Carvey. Performances in the game include 6-73 from Steve Carvey as Banbury were restricted to 220 for 7 from their 50 overs. In reply Shipton made 163 for 6 with thirties from Tim Senior and Craig Lambert.
Junior Cricket Coaching WeeksJunior Cricket Coaching Weeks

The following cricket coaching weeks are being run at BURFORD SCHOOL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Tuesday 14th August – Friday 17th August
Boys and Girls aged 7-11 – soft and hard ball
10.00am – 3.00pm ~ Cost £40

Tuesday 28th August – Friday 31st August
Boys 10 – 14 – hard ball only
10.00am – 3.00pm ~ Cost £40

All sessions are run by a qualified Level 2 cricket coach. Drinks will be provided but please bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing. For the hard ball cricket those attending will need to provide their own cricket kit to wear during coaching sessions.

Cricket Club Golf TournamentIf anyone is interested in the following please let me know:

Ram International Ltd are pleased to announce the Ram Cricket Club Golf Championship - open to every Cricket Club in the UK. During the summer, at quality golf courses in the North and South of England, teams of four golfers from cricket clubs will play a stableford, 4-ball better ball competition.

Your cricket club will compete in one of 2 regional qualifiers. The top six teams in each will proceed to the Cricket Club Golf Championship Grand Final being held at Walton Heath Golf Club in October 2007.

The price will be only £40 per person including bacon rolls on arrival, 18 holes of golf, and at the finals there will be a phenomenal three course dinner and prize giving.

Preliminary rounds are being held at:-

Frodsham Golf Club in Cheshire on 12 September 2007 & Magnolia Park Golf Club in Buckinghamshire on 17 September 2007

With the Finals being held at:-

Quiz Night Success!Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed the Quiz Night on Saturday. The eventual winners were The Shipton Shockers, made up of Paul Jennings, Shirley Mitchell, Steven Carvey and Ali Tomasiello. We managed to raise £200 for the club. Thanks to Ella Duester for the organising (please make sure we have a better compere for next time tho!).

Clubmark 761We are the 761st club to receive the ECB Clubmark qualification. This is an accreditation to the youth structure at the club. Thanks to VC Charlie Barrett for all the hard work he has put in, and continues to put in, to achieve this. Check back soon for more information on how Clubmark affects Shipton.

QUIZ NIGHT!!!Quiz Night to be held on 30th June with an 8:30 start after the home fixture against Banbury XX. 4 in a team, £10 to enter, lots of prizes to be won!

NVKO NewsThe win on Sunday has put us through to a tie with Tiddington in the 3rd Round. Tiddington beat Charlie Huntingfords Bledington by 7 wickets.

Horspath are through to face Aston Rowant after Tetsworth withdrew. Great and Little Tew face Sandford St. Martin after Freeland and Peppard both withdrew. Local rivals Oxford Downs maintained their course to meet us again by beating Kidmore End by 2 Wickets, chasing down Kidmore Ends 180 for the loss of 8. They will meet either Hanborough or Oxford and Bletchindgon in the next round, result not yet in.
RubbishThere was a higher scoring draw at the weekend that has just come in so Aston Rowant are now top of Division 5, booo!
I Say We Are Top Of The League...It might only be week one but the Second XI are TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
Youth Fixtures OnlineAll the Youth Fixtures are now available online!
Fantasy League UpdateDue to the recent changes in player personnel, and the poor number of entries, any new teams or changes to existing teams will take effect from the first game of the season. But please make every effort to get your teams in asap. I will probably not be there on Tuesday (in Bournemouth for work) so please set up your team online or email me your team. Entry closes 2pm Saturday 19th May.

Change in OfficersSome of you may have heard the news that Bill Bowman has stepped down as twos skipper and returned to Minster Lovell. Ian Lewis will be taking charge for this weeks match away at Thame and a permanent skipper will be appointed next week. Watch this space for more details.

Chris Morgan, better known as Trees or Hightower, has also returned to Minster Lovell.

Race Night A SuccessThe Race Night was a great success and everyone had a good time, including Rob "Twenty-Five Pounds" Pike! Early estimates show around £500 was raised through the tote and bar. Thanks go to compere Jerry Senior, tote assistants Debbie Reynolds and Christian Brain, technical support Justin Hemming and Ella Duester for the food.
More NVKO NewsAston Rowant and Baldons played their 2nd Round game early and after racking up 356-3 in their 40 overs Aston Rowant dismissed Baldons for 98 to be the first team into the 3rd Round. Looking at the draw we will meet Oxford Downs, the team who knocked us out last year, in the Oxfordshire Semi-Final on Sunday 10th June if both sides win all their matches...

UMPIRES & SCORERS REQUIREDShipton-under-Wychwood Cricket Club are also looking for Umpires and Scorers for the 2007 season. We are a friendly club who play in the Cherwell League and have a grand rural setting in which to participate a high standard of competitive cricket. Both umpiring and scoring is paid and you will also receive a free tea!

Analysed Cricket CoachingWe have an opportunity for 15 players to attend the Worcestershire Cricket Centre for coached nets with video analysis. The dates available are 31st March, 7th April and 14th April. Please contact Steve Brain for more details.
CoachingNot fancied the Level II course? There is an ECB Introduction to Coaching course available on 25th March at Burford School, 9am to 2pm. The course is aimed at parents and volunteers who want to help with junior club sections. The course costs £35 and more details can be obtained from Charlie Barrett.
Winter NetsWe had a good turn out for the first nets session last sunday at Wood Green school. Would be good to see a few more, plenty of time for everyone to get a bat, have a bowl and a chat! 7.30 start, every Sunday. See you there.
