MERRY CHRISTMAS from the Chairman24.12.2011
I would like to wish everyone on the committe, the players and all our supporters a really great Christmas and a Very Happy New Year in 2012.

You will all hopefully be well pleased with 2011, especially with our 1st XI entering the Home Counties Premier League for the first time in the club's history, as well as success in 3 cups and promotions for our 2 other senior sides.

Times are tough during this period of recession and I would like to thank our sponsor, FWP Matthews, Vice Presidents and supporters for finding the time, money and inclination to support the club.

Finally not wanting Christmas Day to pass too quickly a quick reminder our AGM will be happening on the 17th of January at the Shaven Crown - this is your club, it would be great to see you there!

Happy Christmas Everyone!

The fixtures for our first season in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier Cricket League are now available and can be viewed here.

Our thanks go to Barry Mainstone for his efforts scoring for our 1st XI over the last few years - Barry has stepped down from this position for next season, so if anyone would like to be our 1st XI scorer next season, or knows someone else who might be interested, please get in touch via here or directly with our Chairman.

Finally, we have been nominated for Oxfordshire Team of the Year at the 2011 Oxfordshire Sports Awards, this year being held this year on the 9th December at the Kassam Stadium. Keep your fingers crossed!

CHAMPIONS OF THE CHERWELL LEAGUE!06.09.2011
You might have heard, no, it's not a rumour, WE HAVE WON DIVISION 1 OF THE CHERWELL LEAGUE!!!. Thanks to Downs being unable to bowl a wicket taking ball in their innings and our fine victory over Leighton Buzzard, we have been promoted to the HOME COUNTIES!!! Congratualtions to all players and a proper write up and pictures will follow when I get more of a chance.

In other news, our 2nd XI also secured promotion to Division 3 with a comprehensive victory over Oxford II's and our 3rd XI smashed Kingston Bagpuize III for 28 in their last game, playing as Champions Elect of Division 10.

The 1st XI also completed a Domestic Treble by winning the inaugral District Cup and by beating Home Counties Premier League side Banbury in a close-knit Bernard Tollet League Cup Final on Sunday - 3 Promotions and 4 Titles - WHAT A SEASON!

More details to follow, but until then, please make sure you've confirmed your Sportsman's Dinner and Awards Evening ticket and...

GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEN ARRRRRRRRRMMMMMMY!!!!!!!!!

Latest News - Success All Round!08.08.2011
Apologies for the lack of updates, not sure where the time goes, but in the meantime a lot of cricket has been played, and some exciting games to come.

First up the 1st XI have risen to be clear at the top of Division 1 by 4 points after good wins against Buckingham and Oxford & Bletchingdon, whilst local rivals and title contenders Oxford Downs have slipped up recently. With 4 games to go it's in their hands.

The 2nd XI have had mixed results and have slipped to third in Division 4, still in contention for promotion via second place and some great individiual performances from the likes of Liam Hare and Joe Cockroft provide hope of success in the last 4 fixtures.

The 3rd XI have pulled clear at the top of Division 10 after beating Thame in their top of the table clash, a great team effort inspired by Simon Dickens 5-fer and Jamie Nelsons 72. Thame are 32 points behind with a game in hand, and face third place Tew this week (our 3s have a spare week); only 7 points are required (should Tew win their last 3 games) from a possible 75 for the 3s to secure promotion this season.

The league isn't the only place the Green Army are having success and the 1st have two semi-finals to play in the Bernard Tollet Oxfordshire Cup against Great Tew at Shipton on Sunday 21st August at 11am, reward for beating Oxford in the Quarter-Finals, and Tiddington in the District Cup on Sunday 14th August. Would be great to see you there at these games in support at such a crucial stage of the competions.

We are hosting the Oxfordshire Over 40's Finals Day on Sunday 28th August and have our Club Twenty20 day on Monday 29th August - this will be our annual Greg Barrett Memorial game followed by an inter-club Twenty20 competition - fingers-crossed the weather stays fine for such a full three days of cricket!

Finally, if you haven't yet bought your ticket for our Balloon Race (jackpot up to £500!) please contact your nearest Captain or Committee Member to purchase it - balloons to be released at Shipton Fete on Monday 29th August with the winners announced at the Sportsmans Dinner and Awards Evening on October 1st (again, if you haven't got your ticket for this yet, please contact Ian Lewis via the Social Events page).
