| Shipton Golf Day 2012 | 26.04.2012 |
| 36 "golfers" attended the Shipton golf day at Cirencester golf club, in what became an increasingly competitive day.
Bill Bowmans very impressive 44 points with a gross score of 77 gave him the title on the day, with Chris Panter in second on 41 points. Chris Miles won the longest drive on the 12th hole and Paul Griffiths won nearest the pin on the tricky 18th hole. The team event was won with the experience of Chris Panter, Steve Wood, Les Hole and Jason Seacole with a combined score of 121 points. All in all a good day which raised over £300 for the cricket club. Thanks to club members and guests who supported the event. Steve Bates
| March 2012 News | 20.03.2012 |
| It's been a while so there's a bit to catch up on, so please take a moment to take it all in! The Natwest Cricket Force day is happening this year on Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1st April. If you can spend even an hour at the club on either of these days to help with all the jobs required to get the club ready for the new season, it'd be great to see you there. Generally teams will be working there from 10:00 until 16:00. Contact the Chairman for more details. Sunday Nets are ongoing at Henry Box School from 2-4 - not long left until the season starts so get along and get loose! There is also a 3rd and 4th XI net on Thursday at Burford School, 7pm until 8pm, THIS Thursday (22nd March) - please make it along if you can. The Chairman's Birthday has in recent years been an excuse to get everyone together before the start of the season and 2012 is no different. All players and committee members, and partners, are invited to dine at Thai Bangla in Witney on Saturday 14th April. Please contact either the Chairman or Simon 'Scratcher' Hole to confirm your attendance. There has been an increase in costs regarding Club Kit - more details can be found on our store site here, but the bottom line is that squad numbers are currently unavailable, and there will now only be 3 ordering dates within the season. Please contact Charlie Brain or Ian Lewis for more details. Finally, a request to all players to ensure they are fully signed on for the season ahead, and that includes paying subs, be it in full or via a standing order. All Home Counties forms and passport photos should be given to Justin Hemming, and payment of subs can be sent to the Treasurer Mark Meredith via any of the committee members, preferably your team captain. | |
| February 2012 News | 14.02.2012 |
| There is a pre-season Golf Day occurring at Cirencester Golf Day on Friday April 20th. The day will be starting with Tea/Coffee and Bacon Sandwiches at 08:30 before tee-offs begin at 09:30 for 18 holes. After the completion of all rounds there will be a meal and prize giving. The cost of the day is £25.00 per head.
For more details please contact Steve Bates on 07590434907, steve.a.bates@btinernet.com or via Facebook. Pre-season Nets are starting on Sunday 26th February at Henry Box 2-4 - the more the merrier, and would be great to show the new members to the club how committed we all are! To those players who need to be registered for the Home Counties I still need a copy of the registration form and a photocopy of a passport. Email me for more details, so far we have only had 4 forms, so won't be putting much of a side out at the moment! Finally, we have drawn Cumnor in the Village Knockout, a repeat of the Regional Final from 2010 except this time it will be at Cumnor (unless it rains again!). The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday May 6th - look forward to seeing you there!
| MERRY CHRISTMAS from the Chairman | 24.12.2011 |
| I would like to wish everyone on the committe, the players and all our supporters a really great Christmas and a Very Happy New Year in 2012. You will all hopefully be well pleased with 2011, especially with our 1st XI entering the Home Counties Premier League for the first time in the club's history, as well as success in 3 cups and promotions for our 2 other senior sides. Times are tough during this period of recession and I would like to thank our sponsor, FWP Matthews, Vice Presidents and supporters for finding the time, money and inclination to support the club. Finally not wanting Christmas Day to pass too quickly a quick reminder our AGM will be happening on the 17th of January at the Shaven Crown - this is your club, it would be great to see you there! Happy Christmas Everyone! | |
